The hardest thing to face is your truth. I have worked in different industries for over 30 years. I built my career simply by will, like many of you. I went to college, graduated and went to work. As a single guy in the 90's I had a lot to be proud about and managed to have lots of fun. Eventually as life goes boy meets girl and falls in love. Baby follows and house upgrades are mandatory. Career grows but it is never enough as costs of everything rise. So back to school for an MBA and countless other useless certifications that do not help you make your dollars stretch. Time is unforgiving. It does not care about family, health, or anything else. It does not pause. I wasted half my life away from those that I toiled so hard for, and in whose names I justified being absent. Eventually, I realized too late that the job I wanted was never going to be offered to me, unless I created it for myself.

The world has changed as it always has. Starting a business takes time and yes, it takes money. What you don't know is that it also takes real leadership. It means in essence, that you should forget about every boss good or bad you ever worked for. It means caring for yourself, caring for every interaction you have. Caring for everyone you hire, but also for their families. It means caring for your community at large and your environment. Leadership takes time. Even if you are not ready to make the leap, learning the right way will serve you well on your path.
